The Moat Club Update - 6th December 2011

New Claim Form System

The club treasurer, Barry Goodwin, has put in place a new procedure for reclaiming expenses incurred on Moat Club shows/events. This will allow payments to be tracked and allocated more efficiently. With immediate effect, members who incur expenses which require reimbursement or payment need to fill out the form (attached to this email and attach the receipts/invoices. As well as the copy attached to this email, copies of the reclaim form will be left at the box office. Payment/reimbursement of expenses will only be processed if the form and invoices are submitted.

Night of Christmas Cheer – 11th December

Tickets are on-sale for the night of Christmas Cheer on Saturday 11th December. This annual event is always very popular with audiences and this year features the Garda Band in their first ever show at the Moat Theatre. All proceeds from the night go towards the Moat.

Panto

The Moat Club Pantomime, Aladdin, continues this week after a very successful opening weekend. There are still some tickets available for Tuesday and Thursday night so you can get along and support the cast and crew before it finishes on Saturday.

Christmas Party

The Moat Club Christmas Party will take place on Saturday next, 10th December at 9pm in the theatre – once the last performance of the panto finishes. All members are invited to attend, and there will be finger food. Members will be receiving invitations during the week so keep your eyes on the letter box!

Artistic Committee Survey

Don’t forget to return the surveys to John Lennon if you haven’t already done so. Deadline for returning them is 16th December.

The Moat Club Update - 31st December 2011

Auditions - April Play

I will be holding auditions for the Moat Club’s April production ‘Easter 1917’ on MONDAY 23rd JANUARY at 8pm in the Auditorium of the Moat Theatre.

The play, which I wrote, is a comic take on Irish history. Set in and around the events of a fictional Rising in an Irish village in Easter week of 1917, the play has a large cast of rebels, soldiers, priests, poets, actresses, cricketers, TV crews and more. Most of the parts are good-sized parts, with a fair bit to get stuck into and a lot of laughs, and there are parts of all ages.

In general, I need 16 actors for the play:
13 Male (of which 3 are boys under 14)
3 Female
However, the nature of the play allows for a degree of doubling or playing across gender if required, so do please come along if you’d like to get involved.

There will also be a number of crew needed for the production. If you can help out in any area of these, please get in touch with me:
Set Construction / Backstage Crew / Sound Design / Props / Costumes / Make Up

The rehearsals and show promise to be great fun and a big challenge for us all, which I know we will be up to meeting. And it’s a world premiere!
Rehearsals will start in early February. The performance dates are from April 17th – 21st.

If you cannot make 23rd January, but would like to audition or otherwise get involved, please let me know. Likewise, if anyone would like to know more about the play or the script, give me a shout by email or on the mobile 0874137471.

Request for Film Location - Message from Paul Sheehan

I am planning on making another short movie next year of a script written by our own Paul O’Brien.
The first step in planning is the location for filming and this call is to the Moat Club members in case there is anyone out there who could help in providing a location for the movie.

What we are looking for is a house with a large secluded garden. By secluded I mean quiet, not overlooked, lots of trees and vegetation. The garden would also have a shed in it that we could use and it would need to be a bird friendly garden i.e. no cats or dogs running about the place.

Most of the movie is shot in the shed and the garden with a short sequence in the house. We will need to set up a bird table in the early spring and take shots of the birds visiting the bird table.

Ideally we would like to begin filming in the spring but there is no set time table yet as we first have to secure the various locations involved before we even think of casting the movie.

If there is a Moat member out there who is interested and thinks they can help can you please contact either Paul O’Brien on 087 631 2075 or Paul Sheehan 086 856 1908.

Many thanks.
